Who am I?

My name is Nicole. I'm turning 22 this year. I'm a full-time student at the University of Oregon, about to start my fifth year. I'm a journalism major concentrating on news-editorial. I'm also studying music and recently completed a business administration minor.

I'm very active in the School of Music, both as a musician and behind the scenes. I've been a member of the Oregon Marching Band for four years, including more than two years as a member of the Oregon Athletic Band Council. I've also performed in the Oregon Symphonic Band, Oregon Basketball Band and Oregon Campus Band, as well as multiple side projects, including a "marching band" for the UO Theatre production of bobrauschenbergamerica and performing in the Korean Student Association Symphony for the 2011 Korea Night. I've also volunteered for many gigs and service projects through the athletic bands.

My journalism experience includes two years of work on my high school newspaper, Echoes, both as a news reporter and a copy editor; a year and a half interning at my hometown newspaper, The Newberg Graphic, where I wrote news articles and columns; and six months copy editing for the University of Oregon's student newspaper, the Oregon Daily Emerald. I currently hold the position of Public Relations chair for the Oregon Athletic Bands Council, where I am responsible for maintaining a positive public image of the Oregon Athletic Bands, writing press releases, soliciting public opinion on the bands throughout the year and updating the OABC and OAB websites and the band's social media accounts.

When I'm not playing music, I like photography, ballroom dancing, art, exploring new places, trying new foods, organizing, hanging out with friends, keeping busy and making and drinking a good cup of tea.

I hope you enjoy my blog!
